So I was roaming through Pinterst and found such a great, crafty idea from Roaming Rolfe's blogspot! Thank you for the inspiration!
You
know how I love turquoise, so again I found a fun way to incorporate it
into my decor! The color is Martha Stewart Lagoon, leftover from a
previous project ( Turquoise Armorie)! Here is how I did it! Now my mixer and knife holder all match! I'm loving my kitchen even more!!
Love this. Where do you get or brand stencil do you use. Nice job!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I got it from Hobby Lobby.
ReplyDeletewhere did you get your blue kitchen aid??

DeleteUpcycling is when you use a found object and turn it into something else to keep it out of the landfill. This isn't upcycling, it's just decorating.
ReplyDeleteYou are correct, this is just decorating, not upcycling.
DeleteI do not feel your comment was rude or insulting. Just correcting the terminology. Which is appreciated by me.
Very nice............
ReplyDeleteShe did up cycle she added her style to it rather than tossing it into a landfill and purchasing a brand new one. Why would you respond only to insult others. You did a beautiful job up cycling it!
ReplyDeleteLove it and love your positive outlook!!!
ReplyDeleteUpcycling is the process of converting waste materials or useless products into new materials or products of better quality or for better environmental value.

An unpainted knife block is hardly waste or useless.
I agree.
Deleteupcycle your personality. it's clearly in the trash.
Deleteignorant internet trolls , maybe it just needs a snickers
DeleteI read the first sarcastic response and decided o ignore it but then I read on and what is wrong with you people. Lighten up! She did a beautiful job on the knife holder and I decided to redecorate mine or upcycle or whatever terminology you want to use.....stop being so technical. This is supposed to be fun.
DeleteI believe this falls under the category of upcycling into a product of better quality! I'm going to do mine today, thanks for the idea!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE it too!!!...Bah! Humbug to ol' Anonymous!!!!!! (I think this person is just jealous cause they didn't think of it!)
ReplyDeleteWhat a cool idea! I have a boring wood knife block on my counter that's going to get an upgrade now.
ReplyDeleteTrue...who cares if it's "upcycling, recycling or redecorating", it rocks and that was the point of the Blog to begin with. Clearly, she doesn't need a Wikipedia degree...just a paint brush and paint! Some people... I'm now going to take your AWESOME idea and make mine Red to match my Kitchen Aid mixer. Thanks for the post. :)
ReplyDeleteI don't care what you call it, either. It looks great! Mine is now yellow with blue flowers. Thanks for the inspiration, Kristin!
ReplyDeleteGreat job Kristin!! And nice idea Ty! Forget the bad apples as to the upcycling comment - some people feel elevated if they are putting someone down. Keep lookin up hon!
ReplyDeleteThis is AWESOME! I HATE my knife block, it sticks out like a sore thumb in my kitchen, I now know what I can do to it!! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThank you all!! I am still loving it!
ReplyDeleteHey kristin i love ur work, but i have a doubt is that a sticker on the block or did you paint the black color design on the block ?
ReplyDeleteIt was a stencile and I spay painted it
ReplyDeleteQuestion, does it need to have shellac added to protect the stencil?
ReplyDeleteYou could, but I did not and it still looks great!
DeleteThis looks great, thank you for the idea! I have several items that NEED paint for my new kitchen.
ReplyDeleteI pinned this a while ago and have just redone my kitchen. So now the knife block is getting redone to match!
ReplyDeleteI loved it. I've been looking at my old boring block for a while now. When I saw what you did to yours I immediately painted mine. It is absolutely refreshing. Thank you for the inspiration, no matter what you call it!
ReplyDeleteUpcycle, redecorate. Who cares? I think it's cool!

ReplyDeleteGreat idea to the wood block I think I will do mine also.
ReplyDeleteI have an old wood block that could use an update. Thank you for sharing. Great idea.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love this idea. I've tried a few wood pieces with stencils and always have trouble getting a clean line and not getting the paint outside the stencil lines, any hints?
ReplyDeleteBrilliant! I've got an ugly knife block just waiting for a face lift!
